Assessment and interview

To enrol for a place on one of our Early Years or Health and Social Care courses, you will need to complete an assessment and attend an interview before enrolment.

For all of our courses beginning in January 2012, please call the office to book an appointment. The whole process will take approximately 1 hour.

The Early Years and the Health and Social Care sector is undergoing many changes, with new government initiatives meaning it has a higher profile than ever before. These developments mean there’s greater demand for well-trained and multi-skilled staff.

Our new suite of e-learning qualifications help fulfil this need, whilst being flexible enough to be delivered in a way that suits you or your organisation.

The suite covers Level 2 and 3 Certificates and Diplomas which are suitable for a wide range of learners and job roles – with many having a wide range of optional units allowing you to tailor programmes to maximise learner achievement.

There are also specialist pathways for those wishing to specialise in Dementia or Learning Disabilities.

As part of our Apprenticeship packages and to aid holistic delivery, we are pleased to announce the availability of new apprenticeship mapping documents for the Children and Young People’s Workforce, Health and Social Care, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and Playwork Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships

Children and Young People’s Workforce

The childcare sector is forever growing and expanding and the demand for qualified practitioners has increased.

The Childcare Workforce is engaged in a wide range of settings, which includes:

full day care
crèches
nursery and primary schools
playgroups
children’s centres
childminders
family support

Are you looking to gain a nationally recognised qualification or progress to the next level?

Here at LCPT, we are delivering both Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce or Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce. Courses are due to start in September 2011.

Blended learning will be the delivery mode for these courses, which will mean both online resources and classroom contact will be used to support your achievement of this qualification.

LCPT Online ‘Working with Children’ distance learning courses are launched

The first series of LCPT Online courses in childcare has been launched in March 2011. You can now study one of our nationally recognised childcare courses and get ahead in your profession from the comfort of your home or your workplace. It’s really easy to join in – all you need is access to a computer and the internet, with email and a free video conferencing application such as Skype.

Do you want to gain a recognised qualification for working with children?

Come along to the London College of Professional Training open day. We will be able to give you guidance and support to enable you to select the right childcare or education course to develop your skills and knowledge for employment in the sector.

Graduate with flair – progress to the B.A. (Hons) in Practice Development

We are very pleased to announce our newly signed progression agreement with Buckinghamshire New University in the UK!

From October 2010, The London College of Professional Training (LCPT) has a progression agreement in place to allow successful and eligible students to move seamlessly from two years of study at LCPT to join the final year of the B.A. (Hons) in Practice Development at the Buckinghamshire New University. This is a leading degree programme in Community Health, Education and Social Care and leads to a B.A. (Hons) in Practice Development.

Students will study Level 4 Professional Diploma in Child Health Care and Level 5 Higher Diploma in Professional Practice for two years full-time with LCPT in West London and then, if accepted, complete the final year of study following their chosen pathway on the campus of the Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe, just outside West London.

There are a variety of pathways for the practice development degree with Bucks New University, including:

early years
primary education
working with children and young people
health and social care.
